You-Belts | Gwenn Goes Local #4

So there’s this little town called Litchfield that totally and completely has my heart.

And in this little town is where both my Grandma and Grandpa, Nana and Gramps, and almost the rest of my entire family reside.

If you didn’t catch it that both sets of Grandparents live/d in this place, then I’ll just tell ya the obvious: both my parents grew up and fell in love in this little town.

So naturally, I grew up there too.

And man, is it my favorite place.

There’s the Dairy Queen that I always had to have a medium blizzard when visiting, the country club restaurant and pool where I spent 65% of my childhood, and The Ariston where I loved to hear stories of when my mom used to waitress there.

But then, after all those places, one stands out: Jubelts. (you-belts)

Honestly, I do not remember going to this restaurant very often. But what I do remember, is that when we talked about getting donuts or breakfast at Jubelts, you knew that no matter what, that day would be the best day ever.

I know, I know, its not a local restaurant in Springfield, but it is only a short 40 minutes, in a beautiful community that deserves some recognition every once and awhile.

Here we go- 3 BEST things about Jubelts.

1. The atmosphere. I don’t know if you can tell, but I am all about my environment, and man does this place have one! I know I may be a little bias, but with Jubelts placed in a small town where everybody knows everybody, and my Nana was a teacher while my Gramps was a banker in Litchfield- somehow you could connect someone’s story back to another’s (Oh, did I mention my special guests were my Nana and Gramps? That made the experience 1000x better ❤ ). All to say, when you are in a place that is just so down to earth, so comfortable and so welcoming, you can’t help but stay awhile. Also they decorate for every holiday- SO fun & SO cool <3.

2. The coffee. I LOVE COFFEE AND PEOPLE. Seriously I think that the only reason I drink coffee is because it gives me an excuse to sit and talk with anybody and everybody. So of course, when I am sitting there reminiscing with my Nana and Gramps about their glory days and my days as a babe while the coffee is constantly refilled and yellow sugar packet after yellow sugar packet is asked for by my Gramps, it’s no wonder I fell in love with this place even more than before. The coffee is good, but the company, community, and pink colored booths are so much better.

3. Pancakes + Waffles. My Gramps decided to burst my bubble and tell me that waffles are made out of pancake batter (which I already knew, but come on, they are still way different), but that didn’t stop me from ordering both. I know you can get both pancakes and waffles anywhere, but guys- do it here because it’s so much better. You get one waffle and two pancakes = a very full and satisfied tummy. So all that food on the right side of the picture? Yeah that’s mine… Seriously though, the food is so wonderful, not greasy and questionably edible, but wonderfully cooked and crisped to perfection.

Well there ya have it gals and lads. Jubelts is the place to be. So if you ever want breakfast, lunch, dinner, treats, or donuts, or even just some coffee and convo, call me up and I will gladly join ya for a short road trip down south.

Until next time.

Peace & blessings,
